  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All other Insight students were brilliant, all fitted in with each other very quickly. Kim was very approachable and funny, made the week a pleasure

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were a lot of opportunities to talk to people both within and outside your chosen business area, which helped give insight into not just your business area, but to the company as a whole as well.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Due to placement being only four days, it's difficult to say that it has provided me with many 'skills', however the Assessment Centre was a very useful task to have gone through that I learnt a lot from

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very, very well organised. Informed me of all details and plans in advance, communications were very clear through the use of email and telephone and there was a real useful structure to the days that nicely built up to the Assessment Centre and put us all in good stead for it.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Really good fun, the office was fun in general, accommodation was brilliant, loved it, very exciting atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Clearly invested quite a lot in us for just this few days, and gave us lots of training for the Assessment Centre towards the end.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was more about the company, as opposed to what day-to-day working was like, however this wasn't a bad thing at all. We were also in the office dealing with many new people and there during typical office hours, so we did see what the office was like and the IPs and Grads gave us plenty of information about what it was like to work for the company in different offices and roles.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Culture of the company was vital to the Insight. Really shone through that Unilever is sustainable and a fun place to work. This was demonstrated from the UK Chairman who was clearly enthusiastic about the company, through to the IP students who had clearly enjoyed their placements.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Expenses form was easy to fill out.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Much of the week focused on networking with a broad range of people from all areas of the business. These included a talk Amanda Sourry, UK Chairman with a Q&A that lasted about an hour and I felt like she valued and enjoyed talking to us, to talking to senior managers in each different area, a couple of 'networking dinners' where we had more time to have general chats with managers and grads and this was on top of more formal meetings during the day and we also spent a whole day with new grads developing a mock product which was very useful, they really invested time into us and provided us with plenty of opportunities to network.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Dinner of the first night involved networking with IP students which was a useful introduction before our first day in the office, and the networking dinner on the final night was nicely formal in a beautiful environment and was specifically tailored to our business area. Allowed us a few hours to casually chat and network at the same time, which was refreshing to have as well as the more formal networking meetings during the day at the office which were also very useful.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Very sociable place to be. Sharing a house with other IP/grad students in Kingston/Wimbledon sounded like a lot of fun. However, not much said that was work-organised, but still everyone had said it was sociable outside of work.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Extremely useful and eye-opening, changed my view on working for a corporate company and showed that they can be really nice and fun places to work. Would advise anyone regardless of their current career plans to try the Insight.

    5/5
