The Role
Hard, challenging, rewarding. Great satisfaction.
Really welcomed, right from the off.
Regular meeting with Area Director; HR staff are always on the end of the phone to help.
Occasionally things dried up in the afternoon, but there are always things to keep you going.
If you want the responsibility, it's handed to you on a plate.
Lots of self-awareness training etc.
The Company
Full of young, like-minded people.
Occasionally, there was little or no advance notice about things, but generally very well organised.
Any essential areas were covered in-branch. A sound knowledge of Barclays' products is essential before you think of applying though.
Subsidised Canteen
The impression from the internship is that Barclays values it's interns, so they are well looked-after.
The Culture
Many social events organised officially, and un-officially.
The pay is a contribution towards the cost of living/travel. No expenses can be claimed. Don't expect to earn money from the internship if you're renting in London and/or travelling far. If you have friends/family with a spare sofa for 8 weeks...
It's London.
If you want the opportunity, it's there.
