The Role
I greatly enjoyed my placement year as I was given many opportunities by my manager and other Fujitsu employees.
I was given a lot of responsibility and was able to own my own projects and take the lead on running big marketing events.
I was given constant support by my manager who I saw on a daily basis. It was easy and comfortable to raise any concerns or questions that I had.
I did a lot of extra work alongside my day to day marketing role in communications and corporate social responsibility so I always had work to do.
I was given a big responsibility of leading and running big networking event which all of our customers attended.
The skills I have learnt during my placement year will benefit me throughout the rest of university and for years to come. It has opened me up to the business world and developed my skills enormously.
The Company
There was only 3 of us in our team but we all had a close relationship. I was based in the Defence and National Security Basingstoke office and there were only 3 IPs based there but there were a lot of graduates and we all became a close group of friends.
The placement was quite slow to begin with as the Intern before stayed on for an extra 2 months so the work was spread out between 3 of us but after this we were given our own projects to lead.
The company were more than happy for me to attend all kinds of training including copywriting, account based marketing, salesforce and dotmailer training.

The graduate scheme seems like a very good programme and something I would possibly like to come back on.
The Culture
I lived in Reading alongside many other interns and graduates so it was easy to see and socialise with others as we all became close friends.
The cost of living is pretty average and so is the cost of socialising. It is cheaper to go out on student nights.
Reading nightlife is OK. A few bars and clubs.
Lots of opportunities to get involved in CSR projects, team nights out etc. Working in Defence we were able to attend go Sailing with Army Sailing and also Flying with the RAF.
