The Role
My job has taught me a lot of new skills but I haven't had much responsibility nor support from management.
They do look down on me, which I don't like. Sometimes I feel a valued member of the team but not always.
Management were hardly around to support me. I was often left alone to do work which I didn't understand and hardly had support.
Despite asking for more 'interesting' work, I was given admin duties and felt like I was their tea/coffee boy too.
I guess they could trust me to work on my own but my work was checked by management before it went anywhere. I didn't technically get to manage anything myself.
I've learnt a lot of skills but wish that I'd learnt more - particularly since some of the stuff isn't relevant to my degree!
The Company
My office was quite boring. Most people didn't talk to one another although I had a few good nights out with other colleagues from other departments.
The placement was setup extremely well - that I have to give them. No problems from getting the placement to arriving.
I was allowed to complete lots of online courses but these were often tedious to do. I was told I couldn't go to any external fairs/events, etc. The department budget didn't allow for it.
Subsidised Canteen
I wouldn't go back to the same department but would love a job elsewhere in the organisation (or at a different site).
The Culture
I had a great time with other students in the local clubs and a few days out.
Very expensive, I rented on my own and regret it as it was boring too.
Extreme amounts to do here. It was great to be able to walk out the flat and straight into a busy area.
Apart from going out with other students, I didn't feel that enough activities were organised. I didn't hear of any teams.
