The Role
The atmosphere here is great, and the job role provides more responsibility than I though. Also a lot of extra activities to get involved with.
The work I provide is used on a daily/monthly basis to calculate forecasts/budgets etc so it's crucial I provide the correct information and in a timely manner, therefore to help me to help everyone else I'm given all the help by my colleagues that I need.
Manager gets involved in not only the important issues, but also the day to day activities if required and always has time for a chat.
Varies a lot - first 2 weeks of the month is quite bust every day, but after that there's more than enough time to take on extra work.
Other employees in higher up positions (e.g. Aftersales director) don't hesitate in entrusting you to do a task such as to create a new report for them to use.
It'll be very helpful as the Accounting theories I've used I can relate back to when I continue my studies and the general day to day skills I've developed will help me in any future job I may get e.g. communication, presenting, analytical etc.
The Company
Our office/department was a fun place to be. Although at busy times people were busy focusing on their work, there was always a good conversation or jokes going around. Everyone was helpful and friendly too.
As the scheme has been around for quite a while as has my specific job role, there was already a good structure in place firstly in terms of the work (what needed to be done and when) and the overall scheme (pre-organised events and a good handover schedule for example).
We were provided with Excel and presentation training upon arrival, but since then haven't had too much. We were told that there was a bit of online training we could do, but never really given details about it.

There isn't a structured graduate scheme available at Vauxhall, although a handful of graduates are re-hired every year, just depends if there happens to be a job on offer at the time. Graduates (especially ex Vauxhall undergrads) are given a good consideration if there is an opportunity though.
The Culture
The first 2 weeks of work (handover) was filled with social activities, as is the end of placement and around Christmas time. As there are nearly 100 undergrads working in head office, there's a good atmosphere among us.
Not sure about COL as I commuted from home , but in terms of going out it is rather cheap (especially with London so close by) and bowling/cinema very close too which is also fairly cheap.
Cheap entry and drinks in most places, with a variety of bars and pubs to go to. Only really a couple of good clubs but they're cheap so they're good enough!
loads of sports to get involved in, as well as theatre trips, lots of football based events and things after work, such as the Gym that Vauxhall encourage you to get involved in, so a good variety.
