The Role
I enjoyed my placement year as I was given responsibility by my manager and developed many skills which will help me throughout my career.
I was given ownership on a few marketing activities and made to feel vital for the Marketing area to function.
My manager was always someone I could ask for help and guideance, even on the littlest of taks. This allowed for me to feel comfortable in my role and gain confidence to try things myself.
The job included many day to day tasks and allowed for you to create your own work. The main activities however come in waves but this was not a bad thing as you would not be able to work at full tilt all year!
As previously mention I was given ownership on marketing activities which made me sole responsible on delivering the desired outcome.
The skills I have learnt during my placement year will benefit me throughout the rest of university and for years to come. It has given me vital experience of the working world, which I hope to give me an advantage when applying top future jobs.
The Company
There was only 3 of us in our team but we all had a close relationship. I was based in the Defence and National Security Basingstoke office and there were only 3 IPs based there but there were a lot of graduates and we all became a close group of friends. However it did feel sometimes that I was away from the other IPs who mostly worked at a different office.
The work began quite slowly but I think this was needed as the Defence sector is quite hard to get your head round. You were given opportunities to speed this process up if you felt comfortable.
The company were more than happy for me to attend all kinds of training including copywriting, account based marketing and Salesforce.

The graduate scheme seems like a very good programme and something I would possibly like to come back on.
The Culture
Living in Reading made it very easy to socialise but many interns preffered to go home at weekends.
More expensive than my uni days in Manchester.
Above average, although you have London a short train journey away.
A social comittee had just been organised as I was leaving.
