The Role
Working in mechanical development, I had a broad range of work from running engine tests to working with suppliers.
In my department I felt as if the students and I were doing valuable work and were depended on to deliver.
Managers and senior engineer were always easy to approach and would always answer your questions and explain them.
Workload was very varied and always had to prioritise work in order to meet deadlines on time.
Given good amount of responsibility and lead my own projects and engine tests but always required approval or supervision.
I've only used minimal amounts of what I've learnt so far from my degree. I've mostly learnt how the company processes work etc but some will be taken forward.
The Company
Very laid back and plenty of cake!
Initially put into the deep end but soon found my feet!
Given a lot of training but only for the specific job role. Not sent away for any courses or anything.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Chance to get a bursary for the placement students and come back after their degree.
The Culture
Overally about 32 placement students on site for the year so really good to make new friends and socialise!
Daventry is pretty cheap! Not as cheap as up north though!
The Square...you'll find out.
Yeah plenty of opportunities either with the company or to set up with the other students.
