The Role
I enjoyed every aspect of my placement. I am eager to return as an Area Manager if I am offered the position.
I was treated as an equal by other area managers, and everyone treated me very professionally.
I had regular performance reviews throughout the year to review my development. Also the Directors were very helpful in offering me any company information I needed to complete my assignment for University.
I was extremely busy, especially in store time. As Aldi is very efficient and cost effective everything has to be done quickly
I was amazed at the level of responsibility I was given as a placement student. I was responsible for training every member of staff in two stores on a new system, I produced various sales predictions and I was respected as a leader in store time.
I have developed my Excel skills to an advanced level, which is extremely important for future employment. This will also help me in my University work. Also, prior to this placement I had little/no leadership experience and I now feel confident in my leadership abilities.
The Company
It was a professional atmosphere full of friendly people. It wasn't a fun and lively atmosphere but that is not the way the company operates.
I have enjoyed every aspect of the year and we received structured training plans for the whole year. any changes to the schedule were communicated in advance.
I was fully trained as an Assistant Manger over a 2 month period. During the project work I was trained in the various departments such as Trading, Logistics and Finance. I feel the company worked very hard to train us and to develop our skills.

I am yet to finish the placement and so I have not been told yet, but I have been told to "keep doing what I am doing" in order to be offered the position.
The Culture
We got on very well, and saw each other outside of work. I also got on well with everyone in my store time.
I lived at home during the placement so living costs were low.
I live in a small town, but cities are nearby.
There were not many staff events other than the Christmas parties.
