The Role
Very enjoyable year. Learnt some very important and useful skills, working on a Service Desks means you interact with a variety of people and challenges. no two days are ever the same!
As soon as i started, everyone made me feel welcome and a "real" member. My team and line manager treated me as any other employee and all the responsibility that comes with it.
Team and line manager were fantastic. always helped me and never grew tired of my millions of questions. Regular meetings with the manager to catch up and discuss any problems etc
Service Desk you are going to busy and non stop every day. Most days go by in seemingly five minutes but it is enjoyable to work in a fast paced atmosphere and i want to be challenged/busy then have nothing to do.
Treated as a regular employee. Had my own projects to work on from beginning of my placement.
Core skills like project management and inter personal skills are used on a daily basis. I used to be very shy before joing here but i feel like a new person come the end. all these skills will help with any job
The Company
Working within IT is really great atmosphere, plenty of laughs and food is always available!
from day one i was thrown in the deep end, which is good as I got to settle in very quickly. You have to learn on the job in this role so being adaptable is a must
I had regualar meetings with my manager to feedback any problems etc. Also went on a Windows 7 training course with my team members. Other training was provided at the head office in Coventry with an external company (four of these over the year).
Company Car
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Really enjoyed my time here and great company, atmosphere to work in.
The Culture
Being based in Redhill, there is no real social scene here. All other students are in Coventry region so quite far away. Training days are always hosted at Coventry so always a chance for a night out before or after the training!
I rented in Redhill as i wanted to be near the office, as was a commuter area was very expensive. Depends if you want the commute or not, walking into work every day was worth it.
No nightlife, the only night club in the area closed few years ago. personally i dont really do clubbing and stuff, i came here to work
there was various charity events over the year, mainly sports like football and netball
