The Role
Overall it has been a very valuable experience in terms of career prospects and meeting new people.
The welcoming by our upper management and other department heads was valuable. They made me feel like they trusted me to get on with the job and be able to approach anyone for advice or if i got stuck. Any issues that did come up were dealt with fairly and quickly.
Mainly my colleagues and line manager provided progression/development/networking advice, however they were more than happy to give guidance wherever I asked for it.
My role is comprised of a list of daily tasks which are essential for the department, but is also balanced with a lot of ad hoc work solving problems and conflicts between the brand and retailers. These combined gave me a good flow of work.
In my role I was given the ability to make judgment calls if I felt I could justify them and be consistent, and there were consequences to when you got something wrong or right, which shows that i was given a proper job role. Also, I have been given a lot of tasks which have got real deadlines and have been relied upon regularly to provide accurate data quickly.
The general working skills of professionalism and communication are learnt very quickly in my role and being given the freedom in solving conflicts/problems will stand me in good stead for the future. You also learn a lot about balancing work/life and prioritising tasks at work.
The Company
I have worked next to another undergraduate throughout which meant that we could share experiences easily and my colleagues in the department are genuinely interested in developing you as an individual and will help you however they can.
We struggled with housing at first and left us with issues to deal with further down the line outside of work. However, in terms of being given most of what we need to start at the company and get settled it has been good.
My line manager, staff heads and extra-departmental colleagues have been great at giving me advice and direction however I did not feel forced to do anything. When I have wanted to explore and create opportunities for myself they have been 100% supportive.

Company Parties/Events
Realistically only a limited amount of undergraduates are brought back into the organisation, however if you are a high performer and make yourself valuable to the company there is no reason why you can't be considered being asked back for an interview.
The Culture
The social scene is as good as you want to make it as there are a lot of undergraduates in one area.
The social scene in Luton isn't great however if you can go further afield London and Milton Keynes are not far away, but then you have to consider travel costs and capital/big city prices. However in terms of rent and the general cost of living it has been good.
With one nightclub, two Wetherspoons and a cinema, the variety is not great however there are a number of venues outside of Luton.
There a number of sports clubs available for you to get involved in and you are always welcome to participate. Charity events are another big part of the company, they are easy to get into and come up regularly.
