The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at PSA Peugeot Citroen. Over the course of the year, I worked in several departments, which provided me with the opportunity to gain a detailed insight into logistics in the automotive industry. The roles I undertook during my placement were varied and gave me the chance to work alongside staff and management from all areas of the Warehouse. I enjoyed getting involved in group projects and being given real responsibility.
I felt valued by my colleagues throughout the entire placement. I was often asked for my opinions on topics such as the day to day running of the warehouse and team projects. All of my opinions were valued and taken into consideration.
My managers and supervisors were always there to offer support and guidance throughout the duration of the placement. Weekly meetings were also set up to discuss my progress. I was often given the chance to work on my own initiative.
My daily workload varied depending on each department. I often had daily tasks to perform as well as on-going projects. I was kept busy throughout the placement.
I was given real responsibility throughout my placement. During my placement I was responsible for carrying out daily tasks to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse and undertaking my own projects. I was also responsible for reporting the results of projects to senior management. Other responsibilities included organising and running group meetings and preparing presentations.
Whilst at PSA Peugeot Citroen I received training on subjects such as Time Management, Team Working, Managing Others and Presenting Yourself. I found these sessions extremely valuable and will be of great use both when I return to university and in my future career.
The Company
I was made to feel like part of the team in every single department I worked in whilst on placement at PSA Peugeot Citroen. All members of staff were friendly and always willing to lend a hand. I was always invited to team celebrations.
My work placement was well organised as it allowed me to work in departments which were both warehouse and office based. This enabled me to gain a detailed overview of site operations and see first hand how each function related to each other.
PSA Peugeot Citroen they regularly provided training for work placement students. I often attended training courses run by an external training provider which coached placement students on subjects such as Time Management, Team Working, Manage Others and Presenting Yourself. In addition to this I also received on the job training when I started in each department.

I would very much recommend career with PSA Peugeot Citroen and I would certainly consider working for the company in the future.
The Culture
Social events were organised by PSA Peugeot Citroen throughout the placement year. Additionally, placement students, apprentices and graduates also organised nights out and socials after work. I also attended events after work which were organised by my department.
The cost of living in the West Midlands is fairly reasonable and the cost of socialising is similar to other parts of the UK.
The nightlife in the West Midlands is good with range of bars and clubs to suit all tastes. Excellent transport links make a night out in Birmingham; Leamington Spa and Coventry easily accessible.
There were several opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work such as charity quiz nights, sports teams, socials and volunteering work.
