The Role
Enjoyable at the beginning - learning new things Last few months become a bore as you will be doing the same tasks - no business sense in gaining added work so close to end of contract.
No 'intern' treatment - treated like a full time staff member.
Had a very senior line manager for 6 months, no fault of their own but did not have time so I chose not to bother them with any queries/issues I had. Placed in a different team after 6 months with a new manager, left to carry on with usual work.
Very busy as there was a transition phase - Often covered for other members and took on a lot of work quickly. Very busy towards month and quarter ends.
Lots of responsibility given - dealing with senior staff quite quickly. Not treated like intern so expected to be able to cope.
Huge learning curve, learnt a lot about the working culture and expectations within such a big company.
The Company
Very quiet office
Frequent communication from HR before starting, interviewing and assessment process needs to be hugely improved - decisions given 3 weeks later than they said, no feedback given for unsuccessful candidates even though this was promised.
Within finance, no budget for training at all. Other functions have interns who fly all over to attend shows/product meetings or are always on training sessions to help with future employability.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Not as straightforward as other companies - no general Grad scheme as such. Leadership programs are very competitive - those on LP's usually have many years experience.
The Culture
Arranged a few nights out - fizzled out through the year as everyone got busy
London. Need I say more?
Surrounding areas are not too bad.
Nothing for finance. Other functions have volunteering days.
