The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, Vauxhall and the undergraduate schemes gives you the perfect balance between work and play. Being with 80 other undergraduates and making new friends makes the year even better. My job role is particularly fun, from meeting Gok Wan and attending events to driving different vehicles from the Vauxhall range.
The PR department at Vauxhall is practically a family for your year in industry.
I always felt supported by everybody whilst on placement, from my fellow undergraduates to the manager and directors.
It can really vary in my job role from driving around with back to back meetings to having an enjoyable day getting all of your work done at a nice pace. It is good to have the varied days as this makes your week go much faster.
You were given a high amount of responsibility from the word go, which allowed you to really excel in your job role and enjoy every aspect of your role and the organisation.
My year out at Vauxhall Motors has given me invaluable skills that I wouldn't get at University. Working in an office environment on a day to day basis with such a high amount of responsibility has put me in a great position when I graduate for my future career in Public Relations.
The Company
Although everything is always taken serious within my job role, Vauxhall is a great place to work, with great employees and a lot of fun.
I had no problems at all, from moving down to a new city and having to find a house as well as making friends and learning a new job. It was all managed very well.
My team and my colleagues were always striving to improve my development as much as they could. Including extra training at the beginning of the placement year.

The future employment prospects after being an undergraduate is great at Vauxhall. They often take on previous undergraduates for graduate roles.
The Culture
The social scene was great, I don't think there is a better placement out there for the social side. A great perk to living in Luton is how close it is to London and how cheap it is to get to London.
Considering how close Luton is to London, I would consider the cost of living the same as anywhere in the country.
The nightlife could be better however, this doesn't change anything for the socialable side of the placement, especially with London on your doorstep.
There are a lot of opportunities in sport and charity work.
