The Role
I really enjoyed my time working on an account and being in a client facing role.
My managers were very supportive and I was treated like an equal on the account. I was given a lot more responsibility than I thought a placement student would receive.
My managers were all supportive and ensured I was able to pick up new responsibilities at my own pace. They gave me the opportunity to try out tasks and learn more about areas that I wanted to focus on in particular.
At times when covering for managers I was very busy. However I enjoyed the challenge and the amount of responsibility I was given.
I was given a lot of responsibility as I progressed through my placement year and demonstrated what I was capable of doing. I believe trust gained through the placement and my ability to work under pressure enabled me to be given more responsibility at a faster pace.
I think the skills I have developed will help towards my career and ensure that I am able to settle in a lot quicker than if I had not carried out a placement year.
The Company
My office had a great atmosphere and was constantly busy. The employees on the account and the client were all very friendly and it was nice to work in that office.
There are a lot of roles within IBM so each placement is set up in a different way. However with the help of my task manager I was set up quite quickly on the account.
We were given a lot of opportunity to enrol in courses and education. A few of these education materials were mandatory.

Working from home
I do plan on applying back for a Graduate scheme. However you still have to go through the normal application process.
The Culture
There are a lot of placement students at IBM so you do have a chance to socialise and meet up after work.
London can be an expensive place to go out
Yes you could enrol in activities out of your own role
