    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very enjoyable placement, i never run out of stuff to do and I was always busy. I really liked working with senior engineers who new a lot about everything and could teach you loads of things that you cant get through your degree.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued by most people as they would always say when you have done a good job and probably exaggerate a bit on how well you did it. It was nice being with other interns as well to avoid feeling like an outlive.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was great, anytime i needed any help i would get it instantly from anyone. It was sometimes hard for managers to meet with you though as they were always really busy and wouldnt be able to see you

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Usually quite busy, although there ere certain periods of time were the work load was not very big and the tasks became repetitive however there were online courses you could do when there was nothing to do

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • not much responsibility given. The tasks were simple and quite repetitive. I did try to look for extra things to do but in such short period of time it was hard to get into too many different projects at the same time.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • my organisational skills were enhanced and my technical skills as well. It was hard to wake up that early everyday during the summer and then working for 7 hours straight. But anyway it was fun and satisfying.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Not too much going on. not many social events organised and people tend to sit at their desk when having lunch. There were no entertainment thing to do during breaks

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Good. I worked on 2 different projects managing to get an insight on 2 different sides of the company, this was the best part of the experience as it will now help me realise what id like to do most in the future

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They were obsessed with security training which was a bit boring at times but necessary. There were also online courses which were optional and most people could, they ranged from leadership skills to languages

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They have loads of plan for future graduates. The edison is a great scheme to become a chartered engineer and get that extra value you need to top up your career. Its good stuff.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was not much going on.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was good cheap value for food and housing plus travel was not bad at all although sometimes it would rain in the walks to the place making it unsatisfactory.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Wouldnt be able to say as i did not go out much.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few community projects to get on with but it was hard to find a suitable time to not interfere with your work.
