The Role
I was given the opportunity to work on various assignments with suppliers across Europe and many within the UK. Projects were always different so this meant I had to be diverse.
There was always a family feeling in office and everybody was friendly and welcoming. The Supplier Quality team is generally out of office working with suppliers and so they would give me the opportunity to provide them with support and at other times would have to go to suppliers myself.
Any queries I had I was given help by the team providing they were around.
No two days are the same as a Supplier Quality Engineer. For the majority of the time I had the right amount of workload. sometimes it would get very busy and others it would drop and be relatively quiet.
I was given a good amount of responsibility during the placement as a lot of my work was relatively independent and was fed back to management. Overseas was a great chance to showcase my knowledge and was given many tasks to carry out with foreign suppliers.
From the beginning of my placement Vauxhall provided a great platform for development of my skills. They provided Presentation and Excel training but further to this, being able to see the work, production and costs going into each part for each vehicle provided me with fundamental knowledge to take onto a future career.
The Company
At times the department could become very quiet if many people were traveling but in general it is very friendly and welcoming.
The HR department does a good job of keeping all the undergraduates on track and monitoring their progress. Personally, I had no problems starting and carrying out my placement year.
the company paid for me to travel abroad and also there were opportunities to work on vehicle projects in the manufacturing facility in Luton.

Vauxhall is a great place to work
The Culture
There are good opportunities to socialize throughout the year with the rest of the placement undergraduates. There was something happening most weekends.
Luton is quite cheap and is very easy to get into London
Luton is not the best area to go out in however, London is not far.
There was always emails sent out with various different opportunities like England football matches, charity events, cycling ect...
