The Role
I greatly enjoyed the internship. I hadn't worked in industry before so this showed me what it was really like. I now know that work in this industry is for me.
I felt valued by my colleagues, definitely. They were there to help me and they did not treat me any differently just because I was an intern.
They gave me excellent guidance and support. I never had to tackle anything without knowing what I was really doing because my manager was always there to answer my questions.
I thought I was a bit too busy most days. This obviously depends on the team you are put into but I would have liked it to be a bit more balanced.
Not too much responsibility. Most of the decisions were made by the full-time employees, which was understandable. Although, I did get to play a part in the release.
The internship taught me to organise things better and also to communicate better. Through the internship I became a better software developer. As this is the area I want to work in, the skills gained will definitely be useful for me later in life.
The Company
It was ok, but mostly people just worked all day, eating lunch at their desks. I didn't mind it, but would have liked a more relaxed office.
Great organisation. We all knew the details of the internship pretty early on and everything seemed to go well.
A lot of training was offered. Some of it was mandatory and a bit boring, but the training about the technologies was useful not just for the job but also as a skill I will probably use in the future.
I enjoyed the experience so hope to get on the graduate scheme. The feedback from my manager was good and he said I had a good chance, which was good to hear.
The Culture
Yes. I was part of a group of interns who went out after work to meet up, and the organised events were pretty good as well. I got to know a lot of people and made some really good friends.
Pretty cheap I would say. Manageable for a student who is used to living on their own.
I didn't really know the area at first, but got to know it from some locals. The nightlife is really great and I would recommend it.
A lot of opportunities to meet up with fellow interns and get to know them. Also some company events that I got invited too which were good to get to know people.
