The Role
Very enjoyable experience working in a great team.
Never felt like I was viewed as just a temporary employee by the rest of the team.
Direct line manager was often very busy or out of the office so one-on-one meetings were limited, however, there are a number of other senior supervisors within my team who I could go to for help.
I have my list of standard reporting I run but a large part of my role is ad-hoc based. This meant sometimes I would be really busy and other times I would have more free time. Always something to get on with.
Some of the main projects I've been involved in during the year lead to big decision making among managers & directors of my department.
Extremely valuable experience of working as part of a large team within Vauxhall.
The Company
Very positive atmosphere.
Very organised and set up so that you get the most out of your year at Vauxhall.
Two week handover period with the current placement student. Additional training on Excel (basic or advanced workshops), presentation skills and safe driving.
Subsidised Canteen
Fairly poor as no official graduate scheme in place. Take back graduates if a suitable role opens up.
The Culture
With over 100 placement students at Vauxhall there's always something going on.
Rent is £360 a month (inc. bills). Luton is cheap but with few options.
Luton isn't brilliant but nearby Harpenden, St. Albans & London.
Sport clubs and charity events.
