The Role
Has been a fantastic experience with multiple opportunties to learn about a large scope of the business.
Got on with the entire team from day one, with many making the extra effort to help me settle in.
Had two managers with two very different styles, both of whom were always open to help, guide and constructively criticise me in order to push me and help me improve.
To begin with the workload was small as I settled in, but gradually increased throughout the year. Often found myself pushed for time but was able to coordinate this with help. Was a challenging workload but never demotivating.
Baring in mind my age and lack of experience I was given numerous projects that all had a very high degree of responsibility and I was able to see results of what I had done.
I have learnt more this year than I would've imagined; about myself, how to work within a team, how to work with external agencies, about how a business works. This will be very helpful during the final year of my degree, but also a great confidence going forward when applying for jobs, interviews and in other work situations.
The Company
Always a pleasant atmosphere and with many fun characters, but also very hardworking. Learnt alot about understanding the need for this balance.
As I was the first person to hold my specific role in the company the role changed and evolved throughout the year. Initially there were struggles but as time went on these were resolved. However this also allowed me to tailor my role as I grew within the company and finished with a structure where I knew what I was doing day to day but also with the freedom to take new things on. Ultimately I think this was a strength of the placement, and as the role has now been created and fits well within the company I do not believe any future intern will have the same initial issues.
Regular training sessions with the other Interns were very well ran and enjoyable.
Above 25 days holiday
There is a graduate scheme.
The Culture
Was only intern in Ireland. Occasional social events with work colleagues.
Dublin is expensive, but not so expensive that I was ever watching my wallet. Accomodation could be expensive, although it is possible to find perfectly reasonable housing at a reasonable price.
Dublin is a fantastic, vibrant city with a lot of nightlife to satisfy all tastes.
Being in a city means there is lots to go and do. I was able to join a rugby team as well as a five-a-side football league.
