The Role
It was a really enjoyable experience. I learned a lot and put the skills that I had learned at university to good use. My manager was really friendly as was the rest of my team which made working with them very easy.
They were very friendly and outgoing. They valued my contributions to my team and always listened to what I had to say which was really good. The atmosphere was great.
My manager gave me a lot of support and made me feel comfortable on the job from day 1. Any questions I had I could ask him directly or ask my team. It was a great environment.
It was a perfect balance. I know other interns didn't feel the same, but for the area I was working in, the work seemed to be balanced and I enjoyed it.
Quite a lot of responsibility was given to me from the first week which was a bit daunting at first, but I managed to complete the work in the end and my manager was happy.
Certainly skills for life. Not only have I strengthened the skills I picked up during university such as organisation, but I also learned new skills related to the business area that I think will definitely help me in the future.
The Company
Everyone is working away and it does seem quite serious at times, but my team seemed pretty relaxed so the atmosphere was not too bad. I was free to talk to them when I needed to.
It was set up very well. HR communicated with the interns a lot to make sure that we were enjoying the internship and whether we had any problems. Details of any events were communicated in plenty of time.
There is a big emphasis on training. At the start of the internship all interns go through training and there is also online training while in the office as well. Meetings with my manager made it clear what I was good at and what I needed improving on which were great.
Company Parties/Events
I hope to come back here as a graduate. I really enjoyed the internship and from the good feedback I got from my manager I think I've got a good chance.
The Culture
It was really great. The interns went out often to get a drink and get to know each other. I made some great friends during the internship.
It is London, so pretty expensive. Although if you plan carefully, it is actually fine.
The nightlife was really great. I had never experienced it before but going out the interns to relax after a long week was one of the highlights. I definitely recommend it.
There are many networking opportunities. The company emphasizes this -- I think it's a great way to meet new people. Through the events I got to know some key people and built my network. There are events organised for the interns especially as well which were always good fun.
