The Role
3M is a great place to have an internship, you are given the responsibility and projects that let allow you to work and grow rapidly.
The team was incredibly welcoming, accepting me into the group and giving the respect I didn't expect to get.
I was treated like a full time employee, so all training and development was included. I was sent on training courses to learn completely new skills, alongside the graduate personal development scheme.
Work can fluctuate, but there is always something to do if you ask around.
Very early on, I was given a large role in a big deployment. This lead to being assigned more high profile roles in projects, giving me amazing experience.
I've learnt an incredible amount here at 3M that I will be able to take back to university and into a graduate job. 3M really helped me understand the work-life balance and the social aspect of working for a company.
The Company
I was in a quieter part of the building, so conversation was reduced. Everyone was always willing to chat when approached.
Work was set up for me as soon as I arrived and then I was assigned work suited to my skills and what I wanted to learn.
3M sent me on training courses alongside the grad development scheme. I also shadowed some employees to learn more about project management.

A position isn't guaranteed, but there will be graduate positions available.
The Culture
Being close to big cities allowed us to go out quite a lot. Department social life can vary greatly between departments.
Reading and London are quite expensive places, the Reading SU is one of the only cheap, student friendly places.
There are a few good clubs in Reading, and of course, many in London.
There wasn't much available for out-of-work activities, unless organised by a few employees.
