The Role
It was a very good experience. Every morning I was excited about my day at work.
I was feeling quite valued by colleagues as well as customers.
I vote this score just because I did not ask for any support so far. I think I know what I want from my career perfectly well. But had I needed support I think my supervisor would be fairly good at it.
It entirely up to you to take on extra responsibilities. I felt like doing it though, because I work hard on the things I like.
Good amount.
Not the ideal placement for a Mechanical Engineer. By default the skills and tools used do have very little alignment with what you learn and do at Universities. And here I am talking about proper engineering tools such as technical computing languages, FEA / CFD analysis etc.. 3M is traditionally an experimental company. They are very resistant to incorporating modern computational tools in their artillery. On the other hand, good experience to see how a business runs.
The Company
It was OK. I was looking for support to start working towards Chartered Engineer status. Unfortunately no engineer in my group was a Chartered Engineer.
