The Role
Excellent level of independence and responsibility.
Inside 4 months, people were asking for my assistance in skills I had acquired.
Weekly meetings to discuss progress and next steps.
Enough work to feel constantly busy, but not so much work that I felt under pressure or stressed.
For a technical role I could not believe how much responsibility and independence I had.
Lots of technical skills acquired along with many business insights and training courses.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly, lots of characters!! Lacking two stars only for the fact that the average age was higher than I would have liked.
As the year was a little transitional for the office (the first year of the existing placement) there were a few hiccups but nothing that caused any prolonged issues.
All the expected technical training. Additionally we were included on the Graduate scheme training program. This gave us an extra insight into the corporate world.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
3M would be an excellent organisation to work for. Many examples of people having 30+ year careers within 3M, yet still holding a large diversity of roles.
The Culture
Once the graduate scheme started we met a fair number of graduates which helped massively. We also had some excellent social events with colleagues.
Far cheaper than I had been used to in Bristol and Oxford. (Placement Location Close to Birmingham)
Certainly not a university area...
A fair few attractions in the local area, not a huge amount of site interaction with these however.
