The Role
Working with AgustaWestland was a fantastic and insightful experience, I feel I have learned more than I could have expected to and had great fun with the company. Though there are, of course, always some bad days.
Throughout my time with AgustaWestland I feel l like I have been a core part of the teams I have worked in and other collegues have always treated me just like any other employee of the company.
Every one was always very happy to help no matter what the problem or issue was. The Training Department, who have the resposibility of looking after undergraduates at the company were especailly good at ensuring I had a good experience
This chaned for me depending on the departements I was in, but there were occasions where the work would come in waves and so I would go through periods of being very busy and periods of being relatively quiet.
From the beggining I was given my own projects to run with my own team of contractors working under me, but I there was always another member of the team available to give me adivice and help out when I needed it.
The experience I have had and the skills that I have developed during my time at AgustaWestland have considerable supported my accademic studies and are without question skills for life.
The Company
This varied depending on the department I was working in as every department has it's own culture, some were considerable more relaxed than others and some were very strickt.
Every stage of the placement was very well organised from the induction process to leaving the company there were no points where I was left in the dark as to what I should be doing.
During my time with the company I attended several additional training activities as well as serveral external activites that helpoed expand my skills set even further.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
The company has a very well structured graduate programme
The Culture
All the other placement students, although there aren't many, were very sociable outside of work as well as in the office.
The location of AgustaWestland makes living costs including property rental very affordable, especially considering the pay from the company.
Yeovil is a very small town so there isn't a great deal going on in terms of nightlife with only a handful of bars and a single nightclub, although it is only an hours drive from Bristol and Bournemouth, both with a very good nightlife.
There was always some activity going on for us to get involved with, be it sports competitions or charity events.
