    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • As a Physicist, this was not the sort of work I thought I would excel at or enjoy, but it just goes to show that venturing into the unknown pays off. The placement was very enjoyable, mostly because of the work hard, play hard attitude.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • You are given the same responsibilities as a graduate applications engineer, but are under less obligation to present. It felt like you gained the respect of your colleagues by the end of the placement

  • 5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There's never a dull moment, and there's always something to do. A wide range of responsibilities keeps the job interesting. Its not at all monotonous.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement has taught me LabVIEW programming skills, improved my general programming, further developed my problem solving skills, and given me a huge boost in presentation skills. these will no doubt stand me in good stead for further education.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Whilst I wouldn't describe it as exciting, its definitely a nice friendly environment to work in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • You follow the same training progression as a new graduate at the company would, and then go straight into the job role after that. The progression has been refined over time, and provides you with all the knowledge to effectively do your job.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided us with a huge amount of training, taking up at least 2 / 12 month of the placement. further education continued throughout the placement. They provided specific presentation skills classes, and are always eager to teach you new skills.

  • Not the cheapest area, but there are much worse out there!
