The Role
When I joined it was very quiet, but since then work has picked up, having increasingly more involvement in a variety of projects and learning much more.
Obviously takes time for everyone to know your capabilities but since then I am treated as a normal graduate
Line manager has not given much if any support throughout the year, however, team leaders and other colleagues regularly check up on how I am doing
Some days I am required to stay late due to work load and others I struggle to be completely utilised (especially at the beginning of the placement). However, the majoirty of the time there is more than enough to be getting on with.
Get on with and complete parts of jobs individually, but with new aspects of the job I am supervised well.
Experience is so valuable, not only technical knowledge but working within a team and in an office environment are skills that are good to have.
The Company
Obviously work comes first but there is always friendly banter around the office
There was no work planned for me at the beginning, likely to be due to a new started in the management team.
Contributed financially to some training and provided the opportunity for me to take part
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Would like to experience another type of company, but if offered a job it would be silly to say no
The Culture
Youngest could make it hard to socialise with the others with wifes and kids. Office socials were good and well organised but not too much socialising out of those times.
Bristol is quite expensive to live and to socialise, however it is a great city for young professionals and lots of people in similar positions
Bristol has a great nightlife and many different areas to explore
sports and society club provides out of office activities, also other clubs around bristol
