The Role
The job itself was boring. I wasn't happy with my allocation to this department. The only thing that was good about it, was the people that I worked with, other HR organized events and the salary.
It's hard to answer this question. My role involved independent low level data managment. I got good feedback from my manager. But it's such a minor role I wouldn't value myself for doing it.
My own manager didn't have much time for me. But other high level people were really helpful.
On the beggining the days are going very slowly. But when you start getting more work, and the assessment time comes and you have to work on your project it can get really busy. Normally you do 45 hours. When it gets busy you might end up doing about 70.
Obviously in this business nobody will be leading you by hand. But the jobes you'll do won't be anything major hence my grade is 5 stars.
I was lucky to work with some people who gave me a lot of business insight and substantial advice for the future. The job itself is unrelated to my degree, so the job specific skills will be useless.
The Company
I think the atmosphere in the office, and some senior people made it a better expierience than it would be if I wouldn't work with them.
It was very well organized, the only problem I had was my allocation.
You get a weeklong training in your first week, which is quite good.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
If you do well during the internship and in your project you are on the good way to get an offer. I decided not to go for 2011 program but do masters and then reapply, and I was advised if I'll stay in touch they will be able to fast-track me to the last interview next year.
The Culture
The people here were great and I'll definitelly keep in touch with them afterwards.
The living cost in London are very high. So are the costs of socialising. But you get a relocation bonus that covers part of the living costs. And with bankers pay, you won't have problems with having enough money for socialising.
What can I say. It's London.
Not sure if I understand the question. The bank organized a day offsite on a voluteering project which was fun. There was a charity run for people working in the city. And also a touch rugby tournament. And we also organized a 5-a-side football tournament that the bank paid for.
