The Role
It was really valuable experience. To be treated like a graduate and to be given responsibilities was very important. These skills are very important to have a realistic perception of the wroking attitude and life.
I felt valued very much by my colleagues especially during our socials.
Very good constructive advice was given to me by my Line Manager as some problems were easily and professionally solved.
There were occassions of tough deadlines and short timescales that needed to be met. This was the most exciting due to the lack of quiet times and required continous focus to meet the quality and deadline of the work. however, there were very few quiet times when new work was being established.
As mentoiend before the responsibilities given to me were smilar to that of a graduate. This was extremely valuable to gain a practical and realistic understanding of the technical challenges.
Technical understanding and justification were learned which will be very valuable in the next academic years. Especially to deliver quality work when under pressure and time constrained.
The Company
The general atmosphere was quiet and focused. This was mainly due to staff visiting client sites and station sites. However, it is lively on Fridays when staff are back in the office.
The placement was well organised in terms of the work that kept me busy throughout the year. There was always something to do or jsut needed quick learning.
The company invested a few training courses for me but unfortunately some training courses specific to graduates were not applicable to me.

The benefits of doing a YII is that the liklihood of returning to the company would set the opportunities to an advantage instead of strating from the beginning.
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst the graduates/placement students since there were frequent social activites and events being held.
The cost of living was relatively cheaper and the night life was always busy and ongoing.
The nightlife was always buzzing and there were always people around.
There were many opportunities to get involved with outside of work especially in terms of volunteering and social activities.
