The Role
I have gained an invaluable experience and knowledge that I could not have gotten in University. I have been enjoying working with Atkins. Atkins gives me opportunity to learn from the best.
Since first day that I joined everyone has been friendly and very helpful to me.
My line manager has been very helpful whenever I have a question about anything, he assissted me and helped me as to where I can find the required information.
During my placement year I have been working on 2 projects. One of them was CRL Farringdon Station. Whyle I was working on this project I was very busy as there were many deadlines to reach, thereore I often ended up working quite late. I experienced balanced office hours while working on the other project.
Atkins has given me a big responsibility for a placement student. I have been designing secondary steel and masonry structures as well as designed RC design intent for piled raft foundation slab.
I have developed my design skills, which are going to help me in future when I will be doing designs. But more importantly I have gained invaluable experience in planning and organisation skills as it is extremely important to organise your work and time efficiently.
The Company
One word - Friendly! This best describes office environment I was working in.
Very well organised placement. I felt that there is a plan in place for my placement at all times.
Yes, as I have been attending CPD seminars which had been hosted somewhere further away and company allways supported me financially in terms of travel expenses.
