    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time working for IBM and traveling the country as a Junior Business Consultant. There have been 1 or 2 tough characters but there is everywhere. I would suggest be careful about your role as some are better than others and I was fortunate enough to get a great role.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on really well with nearly everyone I worked with, everyone's just a normal person like you.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support through foundation is great. I was given a lot of training opportunities and help in identifying areas of development.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work load is immense, be prepared for occasional 12 hour days and to regularly work a 45-50 hour week. This was great for me but could get very intense at times

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility in a guided environment. The autonomy of the work really suited me and I was always able show off my ability in a controlled way. Not too much or little responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement has put my degree into context and I still relate theories and enjoy academia but I have also gained an understanding of where I need to develop as a professional.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very mixed I have worked in 3 offices over the year and they have varied from Exciting to Dull

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I believe the organisation could have been better but it was symptomatic of the business that a lot of the structure of my placement was done on the fly and slightly adhoc.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested a lot of time no financial investment.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am applying for a job with them but will also be focusing on a few other top companies.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • varied from location to location but overall among the interns it was very good.
