The Role
It was a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience. This was my first time working in an area which I really loved and I definitely enjoyed coming into work everyday.
I definitely felt valued by my colleagues. I loved working with everyone and they were all friendly and willing to help with any questions that I had which was good.
I was given all the support and guidance I needed during my time at the company. The support given was really great and I learned a lot from everyone.
I was sometimes quite busy, but on the whole, the balance of work was great and I never felt like I couldn't accomplish what was set. I worked well in the team and completed the work on time.
I was given a lot of responsibility, particularly with projects that I was in charge of. This was a change since I had not been in charge of anything of this scale before. While scary at first, I managed, with good feedback from my manager.
The skills I had developed during my time at the company are definitely skills for life. I have learned so much and I can't wait to put it all to use in the rest of my university career and also my professional career.
The Company
The atmosphere was good. It was fairly relaxed and it was a good environment to work in. The colleagues that I worked with were willing to answer any questions I had.
It was organised very well. I was always kept informed of happenings throughout the year and was never left not knowing what was coming up. The events organised made the year very enjoyable indeed.
The training which was given and also the advice from my colleagues and manager were excellent. The company really wants you to do well and I felt that I learned a lot from the experience. It was definitely worthwhile.
I hope that this experience has equipped me with the skills to succeed in obtaining a graduate position when I apply. I would love to come back to the company as the experience during the placement year was very rewarding.
The Culture
There was a great social scene amongst the placement students. We got to know each other fairly quickly and organised events together. It was a great year and I met many great people.
The cost of living and socialising was good. It was certainly not too expensive and definitely manageable for a student.
The nightlife was great. There was a lot of choice and it seemed like there was something for everyone. I enjoyed going out to bars and clubs with the other placement students and we all had a great time.
There were a lot of opportunities to get involved. I went to many networking events where I got to meet people from the business. It was a great way to build up my professional network and I got great advice from people in-the-know.
