The Role
I enjoyed my job throughout the year, from day 1 I was constantly challenged to learn and develop skills each week! Microsoft offers so much more than just your job, making a great place for an internship.
Every colleague at Microsoft that I have worked with have been supportive during my internship. People are always welcome to share their experiences and offer support, which is great for learning new skills.
My manager has not only supported me in my role, but also with all my stretch projects to help me develop my own skills.
This varied depending on the time of year and business targets. In honesty, at Microsoft it is up to you if you want to grow and stretch, and pick up more work. I have never been over worked, but there has also never been a dull day!
Initially my responsibility was limited as I learnt the business and picked up skills, however as I progressed and learnt I picked up more and more responsibility. During my final 3 months I took on a full time role and was able to work with senior managers.
these skills are not specifically related to my degree but the life experience and workplace skills are hugely valuble for my future career prospects
The Company
Great atmosphere, open and friendly culture. There are many interns based in reading your peers are never far away!
the staffing team are great, hugely supportive and offer guidance throughout the year. This year we had a week long induction, 2 day offsite event and end of year event.
Personal development is up to you, and Microsoft very much takes this approach. However, without doubt Microsoft offers every resource that you can imagine to support you in your development.

The Culture
There are 120 interns at Microsoft so there are lots of people your age to enjoy time with outside work.
I was based in reading which is relatively cheap considering the train to London is only 30 minutes.
Reading is a university town so nightlife is good.
This is up to you but plenty of opportunity out there if you are willing.
