The Role
I have enjoyed my time at Microsoft I have learnt lots. It may not be the the company I see myself working at in the future but that is mainly down to what I want to do is not on offer here rather then the year not being amazing.
I loved my team. I was lucky that I was placed on a very friendly team here at Microsoft who have really been the ones who have made my year what it has been.
My team was always there to answer questions and I had 1:1 every week with my direct manager as well as monthly SL mentor sessions.
There were time throughout my placement that I has a limited amount of work to complete but there were tonnes of opportunities to go out and find your own work to do such as outreach programmes and 101 teams.
I was trusted was a lot of different work projects and was left to complete things on my own with minimal supervision
My Placement was not directly related to my degree but it allowed me to see business practices I had learnt in first and second year put into reality.
The Company
Work hard but play hard too
Very organised received the proper training and welcome day and your team actually know you are turning up!
It is very hard to get back on the MACH scheme and competition is hard but they do give you all the other options of returning to the company
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
Even if I don't get a job back at Microsoft having them on my CV will greatly increase my job prospects
The Culture
Lots of interns hang out and go out on weekends together. I mixed a lot with my team who were all very welcoming
Being in London it is expensive and your not paid too much compared to other intern scheme but you get by you just have to budget
London what more can I say!
there is a social alias to follow more on offer in Reading but still stuff to do in Reading
