The Role
I learnt more in my year on placement than I did during 2 years of university - it's been amazing!
As part of a global team I did not get the opportunity to meet all of my colleagues, however great feedback made me feel like my work was appreciated and valued.
With my manager being based in the US my mentor and fellow peers helped and support my growth throughout my role.
I had busy spells and quiet times - appreciate the quiet times to build on other skills and projects.
I owned specific projects but feel like I could have been given more responsibility
I couldn't have asked to learn anything else! Its been an incredible year :)
The Company
It's a corporate office but the other interns and people you meet make it fun!
Constant support and guidance from the HR team ensure you make the most of your placement and that everything goes to plan!
Microsoft really cares about employees so naturally invest a lot of time and effort into the development of interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare from home
I will be applying for the graduate program as I feel that the company generally cares about retention of interns.
The Culture
The intern community is very friendly and close - I've made some best friends for life!
With the free bus to the offices and subsidised food costs at lunch living is relatively cheap. However with so many fun people to hang out with you'll need to save money for socialising.
I would recommend the Cubed nights at sub89 and Reading students union - great line ups!
If you're into sport there are loads of clubs to join.
