  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I learnt more in my year on placement than I did during 2 years of university - it's been amazing!

  • As part of a global team I did not get the opportunity to meet all of my colleagues, however great feedback made me feel like my work was appreciated and valued.

  • With my manager being based in the US my mentor and fellow peers helped and support my growth throughout my role.

  • I had busy spells and quiet times - appreciate the quiet times to build on other skills and projects.

  • I owned specific projects but feel like I could have been given more responsibility

  • I couldn't have asked to learn anything else! Its been an incredible year :)

  • It's a corporate office but the other interns and people you meet make it fun!

  • Constant support and guidance from the HR team ensure you make the most of your placement and that everything goes to plan!

  • Microsoft really cares about employees so naturally invest a lot of time and effort into the development of interns.

  • I will be applying for the graduate program as I feel that the company generally cares about retention of interns.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The intern community is very friendly and close - I've made some best friends for life!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • With the free bus to the offices and subsidised food costs at lunch living is relatively cheap. However with so many fun people to hang out with you'll need to save money for socialising.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I would recommend the Cubed nights at sub89 and Reading students union - great line ups!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you're into sport there are loads of clubs to join.
