The Role
I had an absolute fantastic time throughout my year at Microsoft.
My colleagues treated me as one of them and were always happy to help. I was requested to work on projects over other colleagues which confirmed that they believed in me and valued my work.
My manager was absolutely amazing and was honestly always there to help. He gave me honest constructive feedback, helped me through the dips and always had my best interests at heart. The best manager I have ever had.
I had the right amount of project work but also had time to get involved in loads of extra curricular activities.
I was given lots of responsibility that never exceeded what I could cope with. I was entrusted to work with real customers and deliver actual products and software.
I have learnt so much this year and developed both technical and business skills which will not only enhance my degree but my whole career.
The Company
There is always fun in my office and everyone is up for a laugh. We still work hard but know how to have fun along the way.
The university staffing team are amazing at organising things throughout the year and there is a structured personal development scheme too.
We have a personal development scheme which allows us to have a 1:1 mentor, meet with senior leadership members and provided us with insights into different areas of the business. I was also given lots of training opportunities - some mandatory and plenty optional.

Microsoft is a truly amazing place to work and I would recommend it to anyone.
The Culture
All the interns get together throughout the year for fun team building events. As you live with interns you also get to hang out with your friends daily and each week we organise something to do.
Reading living costs are fair - around £330 mark for a nice house Socializing costs depends on what and where you want to go - look online for offers.
Nightlife was okay - I'd advise you go out and find what works for you. I stuck with bar crawls as opposed to clubbing.
