The Role
Right from the start the internship orgramme has been jam packed with activites outside of my core role resopsibilities. It sterted with a welcome day before our contracted start date, all interns then spent the week in Reading for a induction and training, everyone who wasn't based in london was put up in hotels which was great fun and a really nice gesture. Half way through the year we had a 2 off site during the week where we did a day of volunteering and then a day of team building with drink in the evening. Overall it is clear they have invested a lot of time and effort into making the year fun!
My team invited me to a welcome lunch before I started work which was an insight into how friendly and welcoming he team are. When I started everyone gave me their time to explain what they do, how they fit into the company and how I might collaborate with them throughout the year. They take it to a personal level and give you a signed card by the whole team with cake on you birthday. The people I work with a great colleagues and friends.
My manager has given me continual support throughout the year from interview training to advice on how to run my own business which demonstrates willingness to support me even if i decide to go outside the business in future. I have always been allowed an encouraged to get involved in personal development and extra curricular activities.
My manager has always ensured I had activities to do. if there were quiet periods which did happen it gave me more time to get involved in other areas. There is so much to get involved in that if you role has a quite moment you will not find yourself looking for something to do for long.
I was given the same responsibility as a full time employee, there was no looking down on interns for the photocopying roles. I was given tasks that one of my colleagues use to do because she was cutting down the number of days she works.
There are endless training programs and educational tools for personal development in any area you are interested in working on, for example I had a pitch perfect training session that focused on how to present effectively.
The Company
Very friendly and informal, dress code is very much up to you. As long as you perform well and are professional in meetings you are given a lot of freedom.
