The Role
It's brilliant, it really is. The atmosphere is really laid back but driven at the same time. So far, I think Microsoft is the definition of "Work Hard, Play Harder"!
Everyone is really friendly and willing to help. Took me a while to get out of my shell and realise that I can actually ask around for help and the moment I did that I realised how keen people are to help!
I felt that I was always guided to make the right move but not forced. Kind of like a gentle nudge/push to the right direction. I have worked together with both my manager and mentors to identify what my strong traits are as well as what I need to improve. Furthermore, I have also had conversations regarding career progression and what role would best suit my skill set.
Microsoft is the type of company where you can decide how busy you will be in a day. Considering it is a very flexible work place you can decide how busy/bored you want to be, although I would say there are so many things to do, that boredom should not be a problem. Between social societies and courses to shadowing and seeing other parts of the business and your day role you can balance it as it fits your style.
Being a developer I was given quite a lot of responsibility by being given ownership of particular features in products as well as running full on test passes on the end product and giving the final OK on it.
The skills I have gained and developed while here will definitely help me not only with my degree studies but will most likely echo throughout my career. From time management to accountability and technical depth I had the chance to acquire new skills and improve existing ones.
The Company
Really fun...not a day went by without foosball! ..or pool ..or xbox
Always had something to do, some new project to work on or something new to investigate.
The company invested a lot in me by allowing me to be the sole Microsoft presence while with customers/partners. This comes to show the amount of accountability and investment the company is willing to offer you.

For a graduate position...it all depends on the assessment centre. Coming back as an FTE or FTC it all depends on your network :) Do a good job and the prospects will be good
