The Role
I haven't met a single person who'd say working for Microsoft is anything but amazing. The internship in particular is a great mix of having just the right amount of responsibility and also having the exposure to the wider business. Amazing atmosphere and people too.
The Company
Atmosphere's great. Of course there are days when everyone's very busy, but everyone tends to find the time for a quick chat or a laugh.
The internship is organized in way that you get the most out of your year at Microsoft. You get exposure to the wider business, get to learn a lot about the company and also have the opportunities for networking with people from all over the business.

The Culture
Depends where you are based. The interns based in Reading enjoy quite reasonable costs of living and socializing.
There are quite a few awesome places in Reading and also London's half an hour away.
