The Role
All of my colleagues where very spportive and where there to help me out. I was never looked down onto like im just a placement student.
I was assigned a buddy when i started, this was very useful as whenever i had a query i was able to go to my buddy for support.
There where days when it gets really busy and days where it can get quite boring, but if you look for opportunities and get involed in other projects then you wont be sitting around bored!
My Manager and colleagues had a lot of faith in me therefore i was able to lead projects on site and globably. I was not constantly supervised and was quite independant in the work i did.
Over the year i have definatelty learnt a lot of skills, skills that i will definately keep for life and take back with me to Uni.
The Company
Depending on what department you are in and what type of people with you, sometimes it can be very busy and everyone will be really into there work but other times people may be a bit more chilled out and have fun as well as get some work done.
I had quarterly reviews where my manager would set me objectives and work plans in what i should do in the coming 3 months, and after each three months that would be assesed and then more goals would be set.
All placement students where given the same amount of training, other training is available within departments depending on what you do.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Depending on what opportunities i get i wouldnt mind coming back as i have already built up a good connection here.
The Culture
the Placement students where happy to meet up and socialise we had many events during the year such as BBq's, night outs and meals. All depends on the group of people you are with.
living costs and social events are not too bad. House hunting was a bit difficult as there are not many furnished housesbut if you come onto the accomodation search and sign up for the one you want then there should be no problem.
Night life wasnt amazing, but theres some good bars out here but clubs i would say Canterbury would have the best which is around 25 minutes away.
If you look for them then yes.
