About You
The most incredible week! I had so much fun, met so many lovely people and had so many wonderful experiences.
Everyone was so welcoming, from graduates all the way to managing directors. Hopefully will se them all again next summer.
Everyone was extremely open to questions. There was plenty of information about what was happening during the week and several interesting workshops during the week.
I've never ever learnt so much in one week! I learnt so much about how the financial sector and big companies run which has helped me in my business and economics modules. I learnt so many other practical skills as well like presenting etc which will help me in the future.
The Company
There was always something going on, and we were informed well in advance.
We worked so hard and took on so much information but the was genuinely such a great atmosphere, it almost didn't feel like you were working most of the time.
Several top class external speakers were brought in so we could learn from the best. The facilities were first class and a lot people within Barclays invested their time and effort into helping us learn.
This is difficult to do in a week, but we did get to work shadow a few graduates for a couple of hours to get a feel of their day to day lives.
Culture is extremely important to Barclays and their values are key in everything they do. Those values are engrained in my brain now and the workshop with the values leaders really helped my understanding of the culture.
Everything Else
All transport was reimbursed, accommodation was provided for free, and we were given an extra sum which comfortably covered all expenses.
A networking evening in the first night to network with other candidates as well as HR staff and then another networking evening to meet with a wide range of people working within the firm. This was on top of actually being in the office and meeting people whilst work shadowing.
Plenty of wine and nibbles, wide ranges of people to talk to.
Several people mentioned different things, including opportunities for volunteering, sports clubs and extra-curricular courses that they have taken part in.
Honestly, one of the best weeks of my life.
