The Role
The placement as a whole was very enjoyable. It provided me with an invaluable insight into the company and enabled me to gain important skills which will be significant in my final year of study and in all walks of life.
I was made to feel very welcome during my placement year and was assured how important my contributions were towards the company. The continual changes to training plans throughout the year were perhaps, at times, disruptive to an effective work-life balance but flexibility is an important component in this industry. Overall, I would say all staff were very embracive, I was made to feel very welcome throughout the year and I very much enjoyed the rapport with all personnel within the company.
Support from management personnel was brilliant. I was always given coherent communication regarding tasks and projects to be completed. Whenever I required further guidance or support throughout the year, I never felt anxious or hesitant to do so.
I was always kept busy during my year with the company. Naturally this would be the case given Aldi's continued growth and expansion over the past year or so. Whilst I was able to maintain a healthy work-life balance the vast majority of the time, it was sometimes unattainable due to travel commitments or working throughout the region. Overall, I would say this placement kept me very busy throughout the year in the most positive way designed.
Responsibility is the most significant benefit I perceive to be gained from this placement. From week one, I was provided with immense responsibility which was very motivating and proved how much faith the company entrusts in you. All tasks and projects completed have consequential effects and it was great to see the end results from decisions made or actions completed.
This placement provides a wealth of key skills transferable to all aspects of life. From organisation and time management to managing and dealing with personnel on a daily basis, I feel this placement has provided me with a firm grounding from a managerial perspective.
The Company
The office environment was very positive. All staff were vibrant and very easy to get along with which made it a very constructive place to work.
The placement at times tended to be uncoordinated. However, the industrial placement is still a fledgling scheme for the company and has improved year-on-year. Furthermore, the company has sought to use the feedback my colleagues and I have provided in order to ensure the industrial placement scheme is fully supportive and beneficial to all potential students.
The training for the company was effective. It was tailored to my own individual requirements and was provided with in-depth material to support my training.
Company Car
I have been made fully aware of the potential of graduate opportunities with the company and this is something I would be very interested in.
The Culture
This was a disappointment however the company have ensured this is an aspect of the placement which must be improved going forwards.
N/A- I did not live around the area of work but I am informed it is an affordable area to live.
N/A- I did not live around the area of work.
From a personal perspective, I was able to pursue my own sporting interests outside of the company but was not made aware of activities relating to the company to get involved in outside of work.
