The Role
The placement with Aldi is very challenging but rewarding at the same time. No two days are ever the same and I have finished the placement with a very comprehensive understanding of a large retailer.
You are a valued member of the team at all times, doing a lot work to help the business on a daily basis.
You are provided with a mentor who supports you and offers feedback throughout your placement.
You are always very busy but this enables you to learn lots.
From the start, responsibility levels are high as you are seen as senior management in the stores.
The skills I have developed will be invaluable in future life.
The Company
Whilst in stores there is little office time as you are on the shop floor instead. However, when you come to do project work in head office the atmosphere was friendly and polite.
Your original training plan may change at times but this improves your adaptability, which is critical for working in retail
There was a lot of investment in the level of responsibility you are given despite lack of previous experience.
This is determined at a final exit interview with the regional managing director.
The Culture
You are very busy and won't really have much time to socialise.
You may have to move house a few times but you get all your expenses back.
There is sometimes overnight shift you may be required to work so be prepared for this.
Aldi is a very professional company and therefore this is not appropriate.
