The Role
Extremely enjoyable, a highly rated year long placement
A great family atmosphere built on company GENS that can be seen and promoted throughout. The Families structure helps the growing firm maintain its small company feel.
You are assigned a Counselling Manager (CM) who oversees your overall progress, works with you to achieve your objectives, choose what training will be suited to you and is a point of contact for any professional queries you have. You are also assigned an Engagement Lead (EL) for each client role you take, these are in place to provide support and guidance for that particular engagement. The company as a whole is very feedback focused and runs 'roundtables' twice a year where your CM, EL's and any feedback collected from the 360 hour (an hour company gives feedback on one another) comes together to give you a performance rating
At times you can be extremely busy, sometime you can not have much on your plate, but this is the nature of the job and definitely builds very strong skills in managing work loads and prioritising different tasks
You are regarding as an analyst which really shows through, you have the opportunity to take on as much responsibility as you which, this may involve taking on internal initiatives or looking for different ways to add value on client site. North Highland definitely support you in anything you wish to do
I can see a number of the skills gained being applied to my degree, and I think the work will definitely help my degree however the main value in the skills gained however is for a professional not academic environment
The Company
It's such a fun office, we have pick n mix, ping pong table, table football a pet tortoise the list goes on. One of the key GEMS to the company is personality allowed and this is extremely visible in the office
Very well organised, as expected in consulting you can be working on a number of different projects but the scheduling here is very effective, they work to find roles that suit your skills and you are interested in.
In terms of training there is an academy (made up of analysts and consultants) training curriculum which you work your way through, in your own time, during the year
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I have a closing interview shortly but I am very hopeful for receiving a job offer
The Culture
We had 5 interns altogether, I personally feel they could take on more but nevertheless it was a great bunch to be around
London is extremely expensive, but its going to be the same wherever you go, you just have to be careful with what you spend
There's some great bars around Covent Garden, perfect for after work drinks
As previously mentioned there is always a wealth of opportunities at this firm
