    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • As always with consultancy, it often depends on the client and projects that you tend to work on. Personally I had a mixed experience, one project that I really enjoyed working on, and another project that I didn't particularly enjoy. However, compared to lots of other consultancies, North Highland tends to have good roles.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The people are probably one of the best parts of North Highland. Interns are always treated as analysts (graduate roles), which is a massive plus point.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Each intern is allocated a Counselling Manager (CM) who is always available if there are any problems , and interns tend to have monthly catchups with their CMs. On client site, each intern is allocated an Engagement Lead (EL), who is responsible for the day to day management.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Consultancy has ups and downs, however in my second role there were definitely times where I wish I'd had more work to do, and also more challenging work. However, I tried to fill this time by doing internal initiatives, such as work for the Community Team.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At North Highland, people are trusted with large amounts of responsibility. However, yet again it does depend on the roles you are given.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training opportunities at North Highland are absolutely fantastic. Some courses are run by internal North Highlanders (e.g. Excel), whereas there are other training courses that are run by specialist L&D consultants. Overall I've really enjoyed the training opportunities North Highland has provided, and believe these will be very useful in my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It's a pretty cool and quirky office, there's even a tortoise and pick and mix. Also, people are always willing to chat and go for lunch together which is nice.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • North Highland (formely Qedis) have had interns for quite a few years, and are an important part of North Highland. It's definitely well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was always opportunities to go on different training courses, all of which were really interesting and useful. Overall, I think I spend about 15 days on various training courses.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good social scene among the analysts. It also depends on the clients your on though, as the large teams often have drinks on a regular basis. There always tends to be drinks on Friday though.

  • London is expensive/

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Large range of bars and pubs in Covent Garden. Some good happy hour deals too - for London anyway.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots! It's up to each individual to decide that they want to do. However, I worked with the community team to get an environmental certification, and also helped with a graduate recruitment campaign.
