The Role
My job was very admin based which I personally did not enjoy at times. However I did enjoy gaining an insight to my department as I observed many interesting challenges faced by the diverse roles within it.
Everyone was so friendly and I felt like a valued member of the team from day 1.
I feel like the support I received from my manager was amazing. I could talk to them whenever I wanted and I had two meetings per week to discuss any issues I was having.
My work load fluctuated quite a bit throughout my placement year as I had some days where I would be finding menial tasks to carry out and other days when I was very rushed. However, I understand that this was just the nature of the department I worked in and my manager provided me with excellent guidance in helping me prioritise my task list.
I feel I had quite a lot of responsibility as I was set tasks by a number of members of the team and it was my responsibility to prioritise and ensure I completed tasks on time.
I feel like this year has been valuable to me as I have had the chance to enhance my interpersonal and communication skills by working in a dynamic and professional environment. I also feel that I am now much more organised and I have much better initiative in managing my own tasks. I feel like the skills I have gained here have made me a lot more confident in succeeding in my degree and acheiving graduate employment.
The Company
The office was quite quiet but this made it an easier environment to work in. The team were very fun outside of the office!
I feel like the role definitely developed over the course of time I was there. At first I was quite unsure what my role was but now it is fully established and it will be for any future placement students.
I received an abundance of training and had the chance to experience other departments.
