The Role
Very enjoyable both inside and outside of work. Lots of opportunities to get involved with lots of things on site and off site.
Most colleagues were really friendly and helpful. A lot of socialising took place out of work as well.
Excellent support from my supervisor and department; they showed appreciation towards the work I was doing which made me feel valued.
Some days were very quiet and I stuggled to find things to do. However the workload of other colleagues in the department was very high as they have more responsibilities.
Responsibility was limited. Towards the end of the placement I felt I could take on a lot more.
Definitely developed skills and knowledge for life. Also opened my eyes to the number of different roles available in my field of study.
The Company
Atmosphere was perfect to get on with work; every now and again stopping for a chat or a trip to the kitchen for a drink.
There were a number of placement students before me therefore it was well organised.
I went to a different site for a HR induction and a tour at the beginning of the placement. There was standard training on HSE, GMP and Microbiology throughout.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
Dependent on the departmental budget.Would love an opportunity to work for them again.
The Culture
I sat with a group of colleagues, all from different departments, on a lunch time. Trips to the cinema were weekly and there was a group of us who played badminton after work weekly. Also a number of nights out.
Very cheap area to live in. However, taxis are more expensive than most other areas.
Nightlife in Blackpool and around where I was living was good.
As mentioned previously there was a weekly badminton group and cinema trip after work.
