The Role
It has been one of the most interesting, educational and rewarding period of my life. IBM is a large organization full of exciting opportunities and really smart people to work with and learn from.
I was very highly valued being given the opportunity to work with a very diverse range of professional from other Placements to Executive Partners and Vice Presidents. This might not be the case for everyone, but one thing is for certain. You are valued as much as you contribute. If you work hard and show the right level of passion and enthusiasm, you can achieve anything at IBM.
At IBM, you get a have a Task manager who you report to on a daily/weekly basis and a Professional development manager who is there to give you the support and guidance you need. They are all very friendly and helpful people with a lot of experience in what they do.
This depends on you role and the projects you work on. My workload varied quite a lot, some weeks I was extremely busy working on several projects with different teams. The work life balance in general is really really good.
Again, the level of responsibility you get is depended on how much your manager feels you can handle and how proactive you are to get involved on other things. I had an immense amount of responsibility working with other teams and leading personal projects.
I think I have developed quite a lot, both personally and professionally. I didn't receive that much training which may be due to my role, but IBM has a lot of online resources and education which I utilised to enhance my understanding of the different business lines and the areas I am passionate about. This will certainly help me in the future as it enhanced my commercial awareness.
The Company
IBM has a very collaborative and supportive culture. It has a flat organisational structure so you could be sitting next to Executive partners and VPs. The atmosphere is great!
Definitely looking to come back to IBM. A very innovative company full of very smart people.
The Culture
London is quite an expensive place to live in, but you do get extra allowance if you work in London.
Very lively.
