The Role
It was a delightful experience. Plenty of support from the team and the wider team, a lot to learn both from colleagues and from online courses, wealth of opportunities to contribute and be known beyond your job role. Flexibility was a great factor as well.
The teams I worked with were highly interdependent, so every member of my team was cherished.
Both of my managers has given me all the support I could wish for (and a bit more).
The workload was dynamic. Some days I had to state after working hours to finish the project, other times
I was on par with the other members of my team, some of which has held the position for 10 years.
This placement has changed my view on many subjects in life. The skills I've developed here will go way beyond my university of professional lie.
The Company
The office was an open plan one with people from various departments working in the same place. It was courteous, sometime a bit loud, but generally suitable for work.
Almost every part of the placement I had a chance to participate in was run smoothly.
I was amazed by the amount of professional and personal development material available for everyone in IBM for free. Indeed, I spent considerable amount of time perusing the sources available (from books & blogs to online courses) to learn a great deal about the business in particular and the world around me in general. Social skills courses were my personal favourites.

I'd love to come back, but current policy suggests that you need to have a permanent right to work in the UK to be considered for placement, which I do not have.
The Culture
There were a wealth of placement students in my location. We worked in similar places in the office and were able to chat freely among ourselves, planning social events.
The location is near the central London (Southbank). London is not a cheap city to live in.
Haven't participated in any of that.
One things IBM is good for is its opportunities. I ended up with a long list of various events I helped organise and participated in, all of which were outside of my daily duties. It was very easy to get involved and my manager was willing to allow me to take time and do all of those events.
