The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed the year and learnt a lot that I will be able to take forward with me. It is a very good company to work for.
I was a valued member of the team and was not treated any differently to the perminent team members.
Weekly one-to-one meetings with my immediate manager provided support and guidence when required and for the rest of the week there was always someone in the team I could go to for advice.
For certain periods throughout the year I was very busy and I was certainly never bored or without work. If that was ever the case then there would always be addtional projects that my manager was willing to get me involved in.
I was given a large amount of responsibility throughout the year. The company makes placements a valued part of the team.
I learnt a number of new skills and developed so much over the year. It has been an invaluable experience and it will assist me hugely in my future career. It will also help my degree studies in terms of time management and organisational skills, not so much on the academic side though as the academic theory I have studied at university hasn't really helped in the workplace and so I think the same will apply the other way round.
The Company
J&J has a nice and friendly atmosphere. Anyone will be willing to help you out if you are stuck with something.
As J&J take in a number of placements every year there are processes in place to ensure that everything runs smoothly and make sure that you can get the best out of your placement year.
I recieved a lot of training over a wide range of areas. I was also allowed to shaddow someone in the field sales force in London. You are likely to be able to experience any area of the business you like if you express an interest to your manager.

The atmosphere and type of people that work at J&J makes it an appealing place to come back to. You will always be working on big initiatives too as it is such a huge company.
The Culture
J&J take on a number of university placements so there are always going to be people you can socialise with outside of work.
I cannot speak for living costs because I lived at my family home this year but food and drinks etc. are cheaper than London but could be cheaper!
You can get into London reasonably easily from Maidenhead which is a good, but expensive, night out. We usually just went out in Reading though which is okay, but nothing special.
J&J have football and cricket teams as well as a charity committee and I am sure you could set up other activities if you want to!
