The Role
I gained valuable experience in many areas and it has helped me to decide on a career path. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait to finish university and begin working again.
I was immediately welcomed and appreciated throughout my placement. I am constantly consulted and can contribute to meetings.
Help and guidance was always there when I asked for it, especially by my line manager. It was recognised when I needed help but at the same time I was left to manage my own projects.
As the job is centred on organising an annual conference in April, the company was in the 'holiday period' when I began in the summer. However, just before Christmas and after Christmas the work load picked up significantly.
I was given real responsibility from day one, with many projects large and small. As my confidence grew, the more the projects became solely mine to manage.
Although I study maths and this placement hasn't helped me in further any mathematics knowledge, I think the experience I have gained is invaluable. I have learnt time management and project management and I applied and improved my analytic skills as the work involves close attention to detail. These are all transferable skills to help me finish my degree and I am sure will ultimately help me to secure a job after university.
